Booking Through Thursday

Pick up the nearest book. (I’m sure you must have one nearby.)
Turn to page 123.
What is the first sentence on the page?
The last sentence on the page?
Now . . . connect them together….(And no, you may not transcribe the entire page of the book–that’s cheating!)

I'm reading Perfect Match. Page 123 was blank so I went to the next page.

In the moments after, Patrick wonders how he could know that Nina's favorite number is 13, that the scar on her chin came from a sledding crash, that she wished for a pet alligator for three Christmases straight--yet not know that inside her, all this time, was a grenade waiting to explode. And then immediately afterward: Oh, God, what has she done?

I like the way this came out. Very cool!

You're right - those sentences came together beautifully!

I read my first Piccoult last year (Nineteen Minutes), which I was very impressed with. I then read Tenth Circle, which I also enjoyed (especially the graphic pages and story-within-a-story), followed by Songs of the Humpback Whale. By that point, I think I'd overdosed, and have a had a break from her novels, which I agree have wonderfully fleshed out characters.

What would you recommend next on my Piccoult list?

Thanks for the tip on my blog about My Sister's Keeper. I'll put that on my list.

I've only been blogging since last November and am quickly becoming addicted. Booking Through Thursday has definitely provided an opportunity to find some really interesting blogs and fellow book lovers.

Look forward to reading more of your posts!

I have read 8 Picoults and liked them all. And I discovered her only in Sept '07!

Here is my BTT post!

Hello! Thanks for pointing me across to your blog. I missed this week's Booking Through Thursday.. looks like fun, though.

Just realised you're the same Linda as Linda's stuff! Wonderful.

Great modern novel.. hmm... if you're looking for something relatively unknown, but with intriguing issues and very well written, I can recommend Linda Gillard's A Lifetime Burning.

Excellent marriage of sentences! I did the 123 thing a couple of months back, and the rules seem to a changed a bit!

I've just finished Jodi Picoults 'Mercy' It's brilliant.

Love you take a look at my post-
