Good Sunday morning, everyone!
I'm sitting here in the sunrise and the world is pink.
I put off reading this book because of the title. Love Walked In? Give me a break! And gag me! Why read the book when I know what happens?
Or so I thought! Then I saw it in the "Our Staff Recommends" section of the Nonesuch Bookstore in Saco, Maine and it had such a warm review that I figured I'd give it a try.
And I'm so glad I did! Marisa De Los Santos is a wonderfully poetic writer with a unique way of describing feelings that made me say to myself, "Of course! Why didn't I think of that!"
Her characters are just so darn likable and the story moves along at a nice clip and the writing (Did I mention the writing?) is magnificent! Here's one little simple example: (BTW, Clare is eleven years old.)
Clare walked over to the sofa and smoothed her hand over the embroidered shawl draped over its back. She hated to sit against something so beautiful without at least touching it first, letting it know she noticed it.
Cornelia stood and, with a swift motion, lifted the shawl off the sofa, set it floating in the air like a great butterfly, and then let it alight on Clare's shoulders.
See what I mean? I actually want to reread the book just to savor the language. I'll definitely be looking for her new book called Belong to Me.

I have seen this author's books around but have nto read any of them yet. Great review.
You also have me wanting to read these books
LOL @ You!! I have heard so many great things about Marisa De Los Santos. I keep saying this on blogs, but it's true. I have got to get a book by this author. I am going to see if our library has a copy before going to Amazon.
Yeah! I found both books at our library and requested them online. I was put on hold for one and they'll be sending the other one to my local branch.
I'm excited!
I will have to give her books a try. I have been reading great reviews of both. I'm not sure of the dates but there was an author Q & A on Librarything and she was selected, you might want to check it out. Have a great week!
I read Love Walked In sometime last year and loved it! It was great. I'm glad you enjoyed it too. I haven't read Belong to Me yet but sooner or later I will-it's on the TBR shelf. LOL.
Don't you love it when a book surprises you? Especially when you open the cover with low expectations... I haven't read Marisa De Los Santos, but this work sounds like a nice read.
You have been awarded. Check out my blog to read all about it. Thanks

I think you'll really enjoy Belong to Me...it's the first one I've read from her, and I believe it's a continuation of this story.
