A Reading Slump

I don't know what's wrong with me but I just haven't felt like reading lately.

This is a first for me.

One of the reasons could be because I'm not that invested in the novel I'm reading.  The Art of Fielding is a beautifully written book but, for some reason, I can't get into the characters.  I'm about half way through and hate to give up on it but...

Another reason could be because I'm watching The Secret Life of the American Teenager.  Every night I get in bed and, instead of reading like normally, I stream an episode or two of this addicting show on my iPad.

And then there is the iPad, itself.  I love it!  And am always fiddling with it instead of reading.  I mean, there are just so many apps to explore and play with.

I wish there were more hours in the day.  Too bad I don't have two or three brains so I could do everything I want!

I think reading is like anything - it comes and goes when you need it. That said, if you're not getting into that book put it down and pick something else. It doesn't mean it's a bad book or you're a bad reader - it's not right for you now. You can always come back to it if you want. And you could always load a book on the iPad, right?

I join you this feeling; I have four books I'm "reading", but I can't put the camera down long enough. I have to make myself schedule reading time, then I can't focus. I have to wait until the bug hits me again :-)

I am with you on having too many distractions! I had to force myself to turn off the television so I can get in some reading tonight.

Hi Linda Jacobs,

I'm Veronica. I like that post. I like to read too. Sometimes, I don't feel like reading. I feel like doing nothing. May I ask you this: are you familiar with online reading? I have a blog that features websites that offers a collection of books you can read off from your computer. My blog is Go to my October 14 post, "Reading." You don't have to get a book now. I just want to show you. Again, nice post!
